What is Online Counselling?
Online Counselling is the provision of mental health services using technology. I offer the use of video conferencing and the telephone. But it can also include emails and instant messaging.
Online counselling provides an opportunity to explore a personal difficulties in a
Confidential and supportive environment. This may include expressing feelings that are painful, and exploring issues to gain insight and understanding.
I use a platform called Zoom and I will provide you with all information you need regarding this. Please Zoom Instructions and Guidance
What sort of issues can I contact you about?
Online counselling may be able to help with a wide range of issues including abuse, anxiety, stress, depression, eating difficulties, loneliness, relationship problems, bereavement, self-esteem, sexual orientation, sexual abuse, discrimination, pet bereavement and many more.
I will provide, to the best of my ability, online counselling that endeavours to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment in which you will be given time and space to understand and gain insight into your situation. This process can foster growth and lead to positive change in your life. I will not offer advice but believe that you will have the answers and resources within yourself.
Benefits of Online Counselling
You can create a comfortable and private space in your own home from which to attend therapy. Please see Finding Privacy to help you with this
You may find it easy to talk, focus and express yourself.
You may enjoy wearing comfortable clothes, bringing a cup of tea and avoiding a commute to and from session.
We may be able to be more flexible about scheduling.
Ideal for single parents and carers who cannot get child care
Ideal for mums with babies and toddlers with no childcare or if you don’t want to leave your child. Although I would always encourage you to use a private space free from interruption I do understand that’s not always possible when you have young children and I am happy to work in this way.
We can still work together creatively but we may need to be more organised with how we do this and you will need to provide the resources.
If you don’t have transport or I am not near you we can still work together
Research shows that online/telephone therapy is as effective as in-person therapy.
I offer Online Counselling to those in England, Scotland, Wales and NI. Due to legislation and Insurance I am unable to work with those in other countries.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions
