SENT-The Truth About Parent Carer Trauma

This is not about money. This is about being betrayed by the very professionals who are meant to help. It is about the silence, the indifference, and sometimes even the cruelty of a system that should protect our children but too often leaves them adrift and punishes parents.

In Sent, Nicola shares her journey of the fight for her academically able autistic son’s education. Woven through her journey are three threads of SEN: her Story that shares her experience, Enlighten that gently guides readers through a complex and often confusing system, and Nurture to help parents breathe again.

For every professional who wants to do better and for every parent who has ever felt invisible, this book offers recognition, honesty, and solidarity. You are not alone.

Art Gallery

In SENT, I talk about the art I made during some of the hardest parts of the journey — some pieces were created to steady myself and stay regulated in the moment, and others were part of my therapeutic process afterwards, supporting me to make sense of what I’d lived through.

If you’re curious about the stories behind these pieces, I share some of them in more depth in SENT.
